We Welcome Rev. Tracy MacKenzie to AUMC!

Abbeville United Methodist Church welcomes our new pastor, Rev. Tracy MacKenzie! Rev. Tracy comes to us from Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Slidell. We are looking forward to what God has to say to us through her!

In-Person Worship Resumes at Abbeville UMC Sunday, June 14th at 10:30!

You are invited to return to the sanctuary, this Sunday, June 14 for in-person worship.  We will follow the guidelines set down by our United Methodist Conference.  As a church, we are responsible for the people who join us to worship.  So please, if you choose to worship with us for the present time, please follow these guidelines.

Social Distancing –  Even in the worship space we must sit with six feet of separation between us.  We have measured the space, and it appears we can safely seat about 25 individuals.  While you will be able to sit with family you currently live with, that still limits the number of safe and available seats.

Masks –  We will wear masks during worship.  Please put on a mask when you enter the sanctuary.  If you do not bring one, we will have one available.

Seating – We will mark the pews you can sit on, and can fit three individuals on one pew.  If you are unsure of where to sit, someone will be there to assist you.

Entryways – Please enter using the front doors of the sanctuary, either the main one or the handicapped-accessible door at the front of the church.  If you are able to walk, park in the lot.  Please leave the parking spaces in front of the church open for those who need to be dropped off.  The door to the Fellowship Hall will remain locked.

Bathrooms  – The bathrooms in the educational building will be available and will be wiped down before and after service.

No Singing  – We will have music during the service, but no singing.  While 6 feet of separation and masks prevents us from spreading germs from person to person, singing causes germs to spread over a much greater distance.

Holy Sacraments  –  Bishop Harvey has asked us to put the sacraments on hold while worshiping in house.  This rule remains in effect until the conference leadership can determine a safe way of practicing these means of grace.

Nursery – There will be no nursery or children’s programs for the time being.  We will return to children’s activities as soon as we are able.

Sunday School/Breakfast – Like children’s activities, these events will return at a later date.

Online Worship – Will continue on FaceBook Live as we have done for awhile now.

Some people will choose not to return to worship at this time for varying reasons.  Know that all people are welcome to join us when they choose.  It’s a personal matter, and we accept your decision.  As the people of Abbeville United Methodist Church we are responsible to those who come to worship, and that is why we are adhering to these stringent rules.  As God’s people, we trust that God will see us through no matter what obstacles we face.
